Welcome to Lamonic Bibber, a town like any other, until you take a closer look!
In the small town of Lamonic Bibber lives a nasty old man named Mr Gum, who hates children, animals, fun, corn on the cob, and just about everything else!
But what Mr Gum hates the most is the big friendly dog named Jake, who always messes up his garden (and causes him to be hit on the head by an angry fairy with a frying pan).
So one day, he comes up with a nasty plot to get rid of Jake for good. But will a little girl named Polly and an old man named Friday O'Leary be able to foil his plans?
If your kids are fans of books with offbeat, random humour (like with Andy Griffiths or David Walliams' books), then they'll enjoy this one.
There are lots of crazy characters, like Friday O'Leary, who always says "The truth is a lemon meringue!" at the end of all his sentences, and Martin Launderette, who, as his name suggests, runs the town launderette.
There is also lots of silly, random humour throughout the story, like when Mr Gum slips on an old slice of pizza and ends up riding it "like a cheese and tomato surfboard", or his favourite TV show, Bag of Sticks, which is just a picture of a bag of sticks for half an hour.
Overall, this is a crazy (but funny) story by a talented author, and the start of a hilarious series.
