Class 5C has a new teacher, and school will never be the same again
For Henry McThrottle and his friends, Jack Japes, Jenny Friendly, Gretel Armstrong and Newton Hooton, Class 5C used to be pretty normal, until the day their teacher, Mrs Chalkboard, doesn't arrive at school one morning, and is replaced by Mr Brainfright.
It doesn't take Henry long to realise that Mr Brainfright isn't a normal teacher. Normal teachers don't keep falling out the classroom window, or teach their class how to skid on banana peels.
But things get even more interesting when Henry learns about a pirate treasure buried somewhere in the school! When word gets out about it, will Henry and his friends be able to find the treasure first? And will Mr Brainfright ever stop falling out the window?
If your kids have read any of Andy's other books, they'll enjoy this one. There are four books in this series, and this one is the first.
Just like the rest of Andy's books, their are lots of funny characters that kids will enjoy meeting, like Mr Shush, the school librarian who's always going around telling students in the library to be quiet, Mrs Cross, the crossest teacher at the school, and Grant Gadget, a science nerd who likes showing off his creative, though not always successful, inventions at school.
And of course, there is plenty of Andy's trademark humour throughout the story, especially with Mr Brainfright and his 'important' lessons such as "When you're breathing, it's very important not to fall out the window", or "It is only when you stop flapping your arms that flying is dangerous".
Overall, this is another funny and original story by Andy, and the start of a great series.
