Watch out kids, the Enormous Crocodile is coming, and he's hungry for you!
Deep in the heart of the African jungle is a big brown muddy river, home to two crocodiles, the Enormous Crocodile and the Not-so-big Crocodile.
One day, the two crocodiles are talking about what they would like for their lunch. The Not-so-big Crocodile wants fish, but the Enormous Crocodile wants to eat something even better.
He wants to go into the village and find lots of nice jucy children to eat up for his lunch!
The Enormous Crocodile isn't worried about getting caught either, as he claims to have lots of secret plans and clever tricks. Will any of them work, or will the other jungle animals put a stop to the Enormous Crocodile's cunning schemes?
If your kids have read any of Roald's other picture books (The Magic Finger, Revolting Rhymes), then they'll enjoy this one.
Just like with Roald's other books, there are lots of creative and funny names for all the animals, such as Humpy Rumpy the hippopotamus, Trunky the elephant, and Muggle-Wump the monkey, that kids will enjoy reading about.
Kids will also enjoy reading about all of the Enormous Crocodile's cunning disguises he uses to lure children over to him, such as a coconut tree, seesaw, and even a fairground ride!
The talented illustrator Quentin Blake also has a lot of fun with the pictures in this story, which are all in full colour as well, from the sharp white teeth of the Enormous Crocodile, to the colourful tail feathers of the Roly-Poly Bird.
Overall, this is another classic story from Roald Dahl, and a perfect way for parents to introduce your child to this author.
