These bad guys are out to do some good deeds...whether anyone wants them to or not.

Meet Mr Wolf, Mr Snake, Mr Piranha and Mr Shark. These four animals have one thing in common: they've all got a reputation as 'the bad guys'.

However, Mr Wolf is tired of always being labelled a bad guy, so he convinces his reluctant friends to join his Good Guys Club, who will go around the city doing good deeds in an effort to try and change their image.

Their first mission? Operation Dog Pound, in which the group plans to rescue 200 dogs from the city pound. But will this motley crew be able to work together (and refrain from trying to eat each other) long enough to pull it off?

If your kids are fans of stories featuring funny, irreverent heroes (like Dav Pilkey's Captain Underpants and Dog Man series), then they'll enjoy this one. There are eight books in this series so far, and this one is the first.

I think that this series would also be a good choice if your kids are already learning to read, but have outgrown picture books.

Told entirely through conversations between Mr Wolf and his three friends (and sometimes to the reader as well), there are a lot of funny moments that kids will enjoy reading about (like when the foursome attempt the seemingly easy task of rescuing a cat stuck up a tree).

There are also heaps of illustrations with lots of funny details that kids will enjoy too (like when Mr Piranha accidentally gets eaten by Mr Snake), and which also help to tell the story just as much as the dialogue.

Overall, this is a funny, engaging story by a talented author, and a great choice for reluctant readers.
