This is the team that gets called when even the SAS can't get it done...
Note: This book is recommended for readers aged 16 and up.
Reasons: Violence, strong language and mature themes.
Taken from his care home after a harrowing mountain rescue, Max Johnson is given the chance to train for the Special Forces Cadets, a select team of highly-trained young soldiers. But when a school in London becomes the target of an armed siege, Max and the cadets must use what they've learned to complete a dangerous mission...
Novels featuring kids being trained as spies seem to be a dime a dozen these days, but Chris tweaks the formula by having this team training to be young SAS soliders rather than secret agents.
Chris has included heaps of action-packed training sequences that you'll enjoy reading about, such as when the cadets must race to a checkpoint up a seemingly impassable mountain.
There's also a underlying mystery in the story as well, as Max begins to suspect that one of the instructors knows more about Max's parents than he's willing to let on.
If you're a fan of books such as the CHERUB and Alex Rider series, you'll enjoy this one. There are six books in the series so far, and this one is the first.
Overall, this is an action-packed story from someone who's seen it all, and perfect if you're a fan of this genre.
