A seemingly ordinary button holds a facinating story from the past.
Jonah Trelawney lives in two different worlds. At home he has to look after his wheelchair-bound mother, while at school he is bullied because of his name and has no friends.
But when he discovers a mysterious button in the school chapel, he meets the ghost of 18th century boy Nathaniel, who tells Jonah the story of the search for his missing parents. Will this supposedly lucky button be enough to help both Jonah and Nathaniel?
If you're a fan of historical novels, then you'll enjoy this story.
The story is full of lots of interesting locations from real life, such as the Foundling Hospital where Nathaniel was raised (which was a real hospital in London), as well as lots of famous composers such as George Frederic Handel and the young (and very cheeky) composer Mozart, who quickly becomes a firm friend of Nathaniel's.
There are also lots of beautiful illustrations in this novel that help to show important parts of Nathaniel's story, such as when he first hears Mozart practicing his music.
Overall, this is a funny but touching story, with interesting historical references, best suited to kids 8 to 12 years.
