Knock-knock, there's someone at the door! Who could it be?
In one of Deano’s latest books, a small community of animals live on the same street. There’s Gabby Gettis the emu, Grandpa Hank the walrus, and Sammy Streep the kangaroo.
But the funniest animal of them all is Gerri Giraffe, who dreams of becoming a famous comedian and making people laugh with her jokes.
One day, Gerri comes up with a good idea. She decides to visit her neighbours and surprise them with some funny knock-knock jokes.
But all her jokes fall flat, and her neighbours all tell Gerri the same thing: “There’s a time and a place for being a clown!”
However, when the annual fair comes to town and the band is unable to perform, will Gerri’s special talent save the day?
Kids who have read any of Deano’s other musical stories (Stink-o-saurus, Nee Naw the Little Fire Engine), will certainly enjoy this latest offering by the popular NZ author.
Kids will enjoy laughing at all of Gerri’s knock-knock jokes, all with funny punchlines like “Lettuce in, it’s cold outside!”, or “Frank you for laughing at my joke!”.
The talented NZ illustrator Paul Beavis also has a lot of fun with the pictures in this story as well, especially with all the funny props that Gerri uses when telling her jokes.
There’s also a bonus section at the end featuring some more of Gerri’s favourite knock-knock jokes, plus, kids and parents can use the web addresses provided to not only hear the song that goes with the book, but also find out about both Deano and Paul.
Overall, this is a very funny story about finding the right place to use your talents, filled with heaps of kid-friendly jokes, and perfect for fans of Deano and his work.
