John Smith's species is being hunted. Three are dead. He could be next.
Note: This book is recommended for readers aged 13 and over.
Reasons: Violence, offensive language and mature themes.
John Smith is not from this Earth. He is one of nine aliens on the run from the deadly Mogadorians, who are intent on wiping out his species. John's only chance of survival is to find a small town, blend in for a while, but then keep moving. The hunters have already killed three of John's people, and unless he remains anonymous, John could be next...
If you're into novels like The Hunger Games, you'll enjoy this one, the first in Pittacus Lore's bestselling series.
Part of John's mission depends on him being able to hold his cover as an ordinary high school student, and you'll enjoy seeing him make new friends, facing bullies, and even finding his first love, during the story.
Of course, since he's an alien, John also has amazing powers known as Legacies, and there are heaps of cool action sequences as John learns to control and master his new abilities.
There's also some strong envirommental undertones throughout the book too, as both John's species and the Mogadorians were forced onto Earth after pollution ruined their home planets.
Overall this is an exciting sci-fi novel with a touch of romance thrown in, and the start of a popular series.
