Sibling rivalries take centre stage in the second book in this popular series.
Everyone’s favourite wimpy kid, Greg Heffley, is back! After making it through his first year of middle school, Greg is keen to put the last three months of his summer holidays behind him, particularly one embarrassing event he doesn’t want anyone to know about.
There’s just one big problem: Greg’s older brother Rodrick knows exactly what happened that summer, which makes Greg paranoid that Rodrick will wind up spilling the beans to everyone at school.
And the situation only gets worse for Greg when his mum tries to encourage him and Rodrick to bond more. Can Greg get through middle school and keep Rodrick from revealing his big secret?
Kids who have read and enjoyed any of the other books in this series, (13 so far) will definitely enjoy this one, the second in the series.
Just like with the other books in this series, Greg ends up finding himself in heaps of funny (and often embarrassing) situations, like when he has to spend the weekend at his grandpa’s retirement home, or when Greg attempts a dog-sitting job for a neighbour, with disastrous results.
And of course, there are heaps of Greg’s famous stick-figure drawings that kids will enjoy looking at as well, like when Greg is forced to ride home from school in the back of Rodrick’s van, or when Greg confronts his younger brother Manny after he stuffs a cookie into the disc drive of Greg’s video game system.
Overall, this is another funny and relatable story from a popular series, and perfect for fans of Greg and his misadventures.
