There's something sinister going on at the dentist's office in David's sixth novel

Most kids don't enjoy going to the dentist, but 12 year-old Alfie has always hated going, ever since his last visit where his last dentist, Mr Erstwhile accidentally pulled out the wrong tooth!

But when a new dentist named Miss Root, comes to the town, strange things begin happening at night. Children who put teeth under their pillow end up finding things like wasps' nests, dead slugs, and even live spiders waiting for them in the morning.

Could all of these strange goings-on have something to do with Miss Root? And how far will Alfie and his friend Gabz go to uncover the tooth, I mean, truth?

Kids who have read David's other novels will enjoy this one a lot. Just like with his other stories, there are lots of interesting characters, including Alfie's father (who Alfie has to look after ever since a coal-mining accident left him confined to a wheelchair), the colourful and flamboyant Winnie (a social worker hired to check on Alfie and his father), and of course, the sinister Miss Root and her pet cat Fang.

Also, in between all the action and mystery, there is plenty of David's signature brand of humour, especially as the story also features the loveable Raj, the absent-minded corner store owner who features in all of David's other stories, as well as lots of made-up words like 'bristleless', 'yuckety', and 'gruesomest' that children will enjoy as well.

Just a warining though, if your kids are already scared of their own dentist, this book might not help them get over their fear, if anything, it will probably make things worse!

Overall, this is another funny and exciting story by a talented author, perfect for fans of his work.
