It's son vs. stepfather in the untamed jungle. Let the games begin...
Note: This book is recommended for readers aged 16 and over.
Reasons: Violence, strong language, sexual references, and drug references.
When Dan Weekes meets his mother's latest boyfriend, rugged outdoorsman Hank, he's less than impressed...and even more so when Dan's mother signs him and Hank up for a survival trip into the wilderness. But with the help of an arsenal of disgusting pranks, Dan comes up with a cunning plan intended to reveal Hank's true colours...
Don's filled this story with heaps of gross-out moments that you'll enjoy reading about in Dan's adventure, including vomit, diarrhea, and a malfunctioning baby doll named Robbie to name a few.
This is also a great novel if you like wilderness adventures too, featuring encounters with deadly animals such as wasps, rattlesnakes and a dangerous black bear.
There's also a touch of romance in this novel too, as Dan finds himself at the centre of a love triangle between his crush from school and a new girl on the expedition with them.
If you were a fan of authors such as Dav Pilkey (Captain Underpants) when you were younger, you'll enjoy this story, based on true events from the author's life.
Overall, this is a gross-out and profanity-filled novel, but with a heart under it all, and a great choice for fans of this genre.
