Man and monkey must save England together in David's latest adventure.
The year is 1940, and Hitler's army has invaded London. Young Eric's only friend is Gertrude, a friendly gorilla that his Uncle Sid looks after in London Zoo. But when the trio go on the run to escape the Blitz, they inadvertently discover a deadly Nazi plot, and must stop it before London falls to the Germans...
Just as with all of David's other books, there are lots of exciting and funny characters, both good guys and bad guys, including a cameo appearence from a certain sweet shop owner...
And of course, there are lots of funny momemts with Eric and Gertrude, such as when Eric teaches Gertrude to blow raspberries to the tune of Rule, Britannia.
Also, since this story is set during World War 2, David has included lots of facts about what the real wartime Britain would have been like, from events such as the Dunkirk evacuation of 1940, to profiles of Winston Churchill and Adolf Htiler.
If you've read David's other wartime story (Grandpa's Great Escape), or any of his other books, you'll enjoy this latest adventure from him.
Overall, this is another funny and heartfelt adventure story about a very special friendship, and perfect if you're a fan of David and his stories.
