A delicious classic from a master storyteller
Charlie Bucket and his family don't have very much money, and life is hard for all of them. But when Charlie stumbles upon the final golden ticket and wins the grand prize of a guided tour of Mr Willy Wonka's legendary chocolate factory from Mr Wonka himself, Charlie has no idea how his life is about to change.
If your kids are fans of authors like David Walliams, then they'll enjoy this classic Roald Dahl story.
Kids (and grown-ups too) will enjoy hearing about all the fantastic and creative sweets and chocolates that Mr Wonka creates in his factory, like the Everlasting Gobstopper, which can be sucked for years but never lose its flavour, or chocolate ice cream that always stays cold even when it's not in the fridge.
There are also lots of memorable characters in the story that kids will enjoy meeting as well, like the four other greedy children who also got golden tickets, Charlie's grandparents (who are so old that they stay in bed all day), and Mr Wonka's famous factory workers, the Oompa-Loompas.
And of course, the talented illustrator Quentin Blake has a lot of fun with the pictures in the story that children will like looking at as well, like when Mr Wonka is busy working in his Inventing Room.
Overall this is a classic story with a lot of appeal for both kids and parents, and a great way to introduce your child to Roald Dahl.
