A great mystery story, perfect for young readers.

If you're a parent, you may have heard about an author named Geronimo Stilton, who lives in the fictional town of New Mouse City and is the publisher of the newspaper The Rodent's Gazette.

Despite being scared of just about everything (especially cats), Geronimo frequently finds himself dragged into adventures, usually with his adventurous sister Thea, his annoying cousin Trap, and his favourite nephew Benjamin.

In this story, Geronimo is on his way to visit his aunt, when his car breaks down near an old castle. Seeking shelter, Geronimo decides to spend the night in the castle, but soon finds out that it may be haunted...by cats!

Geronimo's family soon turns up to investigate, but whenever Geronimo tries to show them what's happening, everything seems to mysteriously disappear! Will Geronimo and his family be able to work out what's really going on?

I think that this series would be a great choice if your kids have outgrown picture books and are looking for something a bit more challenging. There are lots of books in this series (as well as various spin-offs), and this one is the third.

Children will enjoy reading about Geronimo's adventures, as he and his family try to solve the mystery of whether the castle is haunted or not.

Just like the other books in this series, the plot is easy to follow, and has lots of mouse puns that kids will enjoy as well, such as "Talk about a fur-raising experience!", or "You really make a mountain out of a mousehill sometimes!".

There are also lots of funny pictures along with the main story that kids will enjoy looking at too, especially the ones showing Geronimo getting scared by all the spooky stuff in the castle.

Overall this is a funny and exciting mystery story, part of a great series and perfect for reluctant readers.
