How can one kid cause so much trouble?
US cartoonist Lincoln Pierce has made a name for himself with his cartoon strips about school student 'Big' Nate Wright, who's 11 years old, with spikey hair and a whole lot of attitude!
When Nate gets a fortune cookie that tells him that he will 'surpass all others' that day, his normally boring school day suddenly looks a whole lot better! But when he finds himself constantly in trouble at school, will his fortune ever come true?
If your kids like books like the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, then they'll enjoy this one. (There's even a quote from Wimpy Kid author Jeff Kinney on the cover). There are a few chapter books about Big Nate, but this one is the first.
Just like with Greg Heffley in the Wimpy Kid series, Nate finds himself in trouble almost all the time (and yes, it usually is his fault), from doing everything from accidentally slamming into the school principal, to trying to set an eating record with green beans at lunchtime.
Also like the Wimpy Kid series, Lincoln's filled this story with lots of funny pictures as well, including normal illustrations of Nate and his friends, as well as Nate's notes about his school and comics he's drawn (his comic strip story about the clumsy Doctor Cesspool is my favourite!).
Overall, this is an entertaining story about a funny, relatable kid, perfect for fans of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series.
