Another fun story from an award-winning duo
It is a well-known fact that along with big construction vehicles, nothing gets young children excited quite like fast emergency vehicles (especially ones that have their sirens going).
Luckily, New Zealand author Sally Sutton, creator of the award winning Construction Crew trilogy, is well aware of this, and has teamed up with Brian Lovelock once again for this entertaining and informative picture book, Ambulance, Ambulance!
If your kids have read any of the books in Sally and Brian’s Construction Crew trilogy, then they’ll enjoy this one.
Just like with Sally’s other books, there are lots of onomatopoeic sounds throughout the story that kids will enjoy, like the “boom boom boom” of the patient’s heart, and the “honk honk honk!” of the ambulance’s horn.
But I think the sound that kids will enjoy the most in this story would definitely be the “Nee nar nee nar” of the ambulance’s siren as it speeds to the rescue, which is just begging to be read out loud.
And as always, Brian Lovelock has packed lots of detail into the illustrations, ranging from big things like the ambulance speeding down the road with its siren going, right down to small details like the contents of the doctor’s first-aid kit.
Overall, this is another exciting and informative story from an award-winning duo, filled with heaps of fun sounds and detailed illustrations, sure to be an instant hit with any kid obsessed with emergency vehicles.
